Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Lunar Sanctuary Church (“the Church,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our members. Because of the sincere religious nature of our community, we hold your information to a heightened standard of confidentiality. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Lunar Sanctuary website and the Lunar Sanctuary mobile application (together, the “Services”).
We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone for commercial purposes.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your email address, and the name or display name you choose.
- Membership record — your member number, your acceptance of the Covenant (including its version and the date and time you accepted it), and your affirmation that you are 21 years of age or older.
- Content you post — the topics, replies, and other content you share in the community forum, along with any reports you submit or members you block.
- Communications — messages you send us through our Contact page or by email.
Information from sign-in providers
If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a verified email address and, where you permit it, your name from that provider. We do not receive your password. Apple’s Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email address if you prefer.
Information collected automatically
- Device and diagnostic data — device type, operating system, app version, general log data, and crash or error information used to keep the Services working.
- Approximate network information — your IP address, used for security and to deliver the Services.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, health data, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.
How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your membership and membership card.
- To operate the community forum, events, and other features.
- To verify eligibility (21+) and record your acceptance of our Covenant and Terms.
- To keep the community safe — including moderation, responding to reports, and enforcing our guidelines.
- To communicate with you about your membership and Church matters.
- To secure the Services, prevent abuse, and comply with the law.
Where required, we rely on your consent, our legitimate interest in operating a safe community, and the performance of our membership relationship as the legal bases for processing.
How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these limited circumstances:
- Service providers who help us operate the Services (for example, website and application hosting and email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations and permitted to use the data only to serve us.
- Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) that you choose to authenticate with.
- Legal requirements — where we are compelled by valid legal process. Given the religious nature of our community, we will assert all lawful protections against disclosure.
- Within the community — content you post to the forum, and the name you post under, are visible to other members.
Third-Party Services
The Services rely on Apple (Sign in with Apple), Google (Google Sign-In), and our hosting and email providers. Your use of those features is also subject to those companies’ privacy policies. Our Sacraments store opens in your device’s web browser and is governed by the store’s own policies.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as you remain a member. If you delete your account, we delete your personal information and your posted content is disassociated from you or removed, except where we must retain limited records to comply with the law or resolve disputes.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction — you can view and update your profile in the app, or contact us.
- Deletion — you can permanently delete your account at any time from More → Delete account in the app. This removes your membership and personal data as described above.
- Communications — you may opt out of non-essential messages.
If you are in the EEA/UK, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your data, and to object to processing. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right to know and to delete — and note that we do not sell or share your personal information. Security
We protect your information using encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure storage of authentication tokens on your device, rotating session credentials, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work diligently to safeguard your information.
Confidentiality of Religious Membership
Your membership and participation are sacred to us. We treat your membership status and activity with heightened confidentiality and will not disclose it except as described in this policy or as required by valid legal process, which we will resist to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Children
The Services are intended solely for adults 21 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21. If we learn that we have, we will delete it.
International Users
The Church operates in the United States, and your information is processed there. By using the Services, you understand your information will be handled in the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes may also be communicated in the app.
